A touch of Aotearoa, brought to life after dark.

Inspired by New Zealand’s native nīkau palm, Nīkau Nights celebrates the distinctive sweeping fronds and elegant form of our only native palm.

Tall nīkau forms rise across all four sides of the pillar, creating a design that feels completely at home amongst tropical, native and contemporary garden planting.

By day, Nīkau Nights stands as a striking piece of plasma-cut steel garden art, with its tall, slender form echoing the palms that inspired it.

After sunset, the pillar transforms.

Warm white light shines through the sweeping fronds, illuminating the artwork and casting large palm-shaped shadows across lawns, pathways, walls and surrounding planting. As the light travels away from the pillar, the fronds become larger and more dramatic, extending the artwork far beyond the steel itself.

Available in three heights — 500mm, 700mm and 900mm — Nīkau Nights can be nestled amongst planting, positioned beside a pathway or entrance, or used as a statement feature in a larger garden.

Choose Your Size

500mm — Compact and versatile. Ideal amongst lower planting, beside pathways, patios and smaller garden spaces.

700mm — A balanced mid-size option that sits beautifully amongst established planting while still creating impressive light and shadow patterns.

900mm — Tall and striking. The perfect choice when you want the nīkau design to become a real garden feature, with maximum impact both day and night.

All sizes are 150mm W × 150mm D.

Remote Solar Panel – 3m Lead — Ideal for positioning Nīkau Nights beneath palms, trees or amongst shaded planting. The separate solar panel can be positioned up to 3 metres away where it has better access to sunlight.

Can I have a custom design made?

Yes! If you have an idea for something special, i'd love to help bring it to life. Whether it’s native flora and fauna, a favourite animal, a coastal theme, something meaningful to your family, or an idea completely your own, I can work with you to create a custom design specifically for your garden pillar.

Because every design needs to be suitable for cutting, i’ll take your idea and develop it into artwork that works beautifully both during the day and when illuminated at night.

Get in touch through our Contact page and tell us what you have in mind.

Do I need to switch the pillar on and off?

No. Once switched on, the dusk-to-dawn controller automatically turns the lighting on when it gets dark and off again when daylight returns.

Will the steel rust?

Yes — and that’s part of the design. The heavy gauge steel is intended to naturally weather and develop a rich, individual rust patina over time. Each pillar will age slightly differently depending on its location and exposure to the elements. However apon arrival you can paint a clear coat over it to keep the raw steel look.

How is the pillar installed?

The pillar is designed for outdoor installation and can be securely fixed to a suitable base using the holes created in the mounting plate. Mounting pegs are supplied!

Does the solar panel need direct sunlight?

The solar panel is seperate from the pillar so if the pillar is in shade simply move the solar panel to the sun facing north, the panel has a 3 meter length and should be positioned where it receives good daylight, with direct sun preferably 8 hours of sun will have 12 hours of night time use.

Where are the garden pillars made?

Designed and made by Kerbbright in New Zealand. The steel pillar itself is cut, formed and finished locally by myself, while some electrical/solar components are sourced separately.

Can I leave my garden pillar outside all year round?

Yes. The pillars are designed as permanent outdoor garden features. The steel will continue to weather naturally, and the solar lighting system is designed for outdoor use.

What is the return policy?

My goal is for every customer to be totally satisfied with their purchase. If this isn’t the case, let me know and i’ll do my best to work with you to make it right.
